So here's a quick synopsis of our day 1. We left, as planned, after Mike for off from work on Saturday. But packing took longer than expected, and of course, we forgot a few things at home…had to pick up a few more things on our way out…then it was time for some dinner… By the time we got out of Kelowna, it was 7 p.m. Not quite the start we’d hoped for. But we got a few hours down the road, and set up camp in Kettle Valley, on the side of an old abandoned road. We woke up to a plane circling us, the entire time we got ready to leave. I hope he enjoyed the show.
And they're off - the first attempt.
John and Joan, getting irritated at all the stops on the way out of town. This one was to pick up plates. we're travelling with Aspenware cutlery, and plates made out of fallen palm leaves. They go very well with our VW van. from BC.
Leaving town, attempt 2 - spirits are high!
The kids' sleeping arrangement in the van. Mike, Tom and I take the bed. The kids share the floor - with the jump sears out, there's just enough room for them all to fit, side by side. Probably the last time we'll ever be able to do this, though. Next year, they'll be too big.
