It was bound to happen. Our reliable car is no longer.
Our transmission is shot. Yup. Transmission - you know, that really expensive thing.
We're taking it to a specialist's shop tomorrow. We can get three gears, but can't go faster than 50 for now- sure it will get worse with time if not addresed. Hopefully we won't need an all-new one! We're kind of hoping it's one of those "oh, you just needed your system flushed. There's no charge" kind of things.

Flush - heavy duty transmission fluid. Next move, talk to an auto wrecker about a second hand transaxle. A completely new on is going to be more than the car is worth.
